Association's Journal - Word from the Chairman

A word from the chairman
Alberto Eiguer (Paris)

When the IACF was founded, on the 4th August 2007 in Montreal, we suggested creating an International Review on the Internet. Now it is done. This project comes within the scope of the objectives which we have given ourselves: gathering data, sharing ideas, scientific progress.

We noticed that many groups or training institutes with couple and family therapists were set up throughout the world without ever having the opportunity to meet each other. They discovered the points they have in common. These groups have more or less different theoretical directions, but what prevails is their shared attachment to the ethics and framework of psychoanalysis. It was urgent to put these vocations and wealth of knowledge together so that they can work in synergy.

These ideas and practices, sometimes influenced by particular socio-cultural conditions, deserve to be shared by all. They are going to raise questions, change some points of view, and start new actions.

So, couple and family psychoanalysis will have the place it deserves as a tool in the face of suffering and imbalance within contemporary families. This Review is also a place of research. Number of authors show their most recent works there and will stir up research on similar themes in other places of the globe, I don’t have any doubts about it.

Among the qualities and originality of this project, the publication of papers in the three languages of the Association (French, English and Spanish) is to be underlined. It is partially carried out in number 1, but should be fully realized in the next issues. The Review presents commentaries about recently published books, as well as information.

Published on the website, the Review has the advantage of being easily consulted. Each Net surfer can benefit from a direct access to summaries and contents. To access to the papers in full requires the payment of a subscription. For the first year, the price is reduced, on special offer.

I am pleased to thank and congratulate the editorial team, led by Anna-Maria Nicolo, who worked intensively and effectively to give birth to this Review within such a short timescale. It is the evidence of the courageous dynamism of the members of our Association. I also express my gratitude to Serge Arpin who is in charge of the technical configuration.
